This project was planned to build a complex facility at Star Sand beach, northern Guam also known as vacation spot. This complex facility contains hotel, condominium, single house, water park, retail, etc and Its total area is ??217,000㎡.
Guam is affected not only by strong earthquakes(Ss = 1.5g, S1 = 0.6g) but also by strong wind (Wult = 210mph) in the United States. Therefore it is necessary to consider following conditions (Earthquake and wind) when planning a structural system. As we analyzed the site the risk category was Ⅲ, importance factor was 1.25, Site Class was C, Seismic Design Category was D and Exposure Category was D. Therefore we applied special structure type by the results. The lateral force resistance system of hotels and condominium facilities with a building height exceeding 160ft are designed as a dual frame system with special moment frame and special shear wall system. A single house of a low-rise floor is designed as a shear wall system with special shear wall system and a low-rise retail building is designed as a moment frame system with a special moment frame system. We followed the structural code “ASCE7-10”, “ACI318-14”, “IBC2010”. |
