The project involves the remodeling of 1282 Dunsan-dong, Daejeon, and includes structural design work. The existing building originally had three above-ground floors, but one additional floor was added, resulting in a four-story reinforced concrete and steel structure. The foundation type was strengthened with micro-piles on the existing bearing foundation, and the floor system consists of deck slabs and conventional formwork slabs. The lateral force-resisting system does not belong to the inverted pendulum system of Section 8.6 but satisfies only the general provisions for steel structures.
For the structural analysis, the ground condition was assumed to be S5, and an effective ground acceleration of 0.19 was applied based on the national seismic hazard map. Since the building is located in Daejeon Metropolitan City, the analysis also considered a basic wind speed of 32 m/s, surface roughness category B, importance factor of 0.95, and terrain factor of 1.0.
